Mother’s Day!!! It’s that time again soon…

As long as I can remember, my mother and I — even later, when I became a mother myself — always thought celebrating Mother’s Day was somewhat silly. Why dedicate just one single day to finally acknowledging all the mothers who do incredible things every single day? Mothers comfort, organize, encourage, sacrifice — and often keep everything running without putting themselves first.

Shouldn’t such an important role be appreciated and valued every day — by children, partners, and society as a whole?!

To me, Mother’s Day always felt a little like a token gesture, a day when everyone officially pretends they haven’t forgotten mothers.

And of course, Mother’s Day is also a wonderful opportunity for businesses to make money. All the flowers, chocolates, restaurant reservations … it’s certainly profitable.

Today, however, I see it a little differently.

It’s a bit like Christmas. In the weeks leading up to it, I often think: Oh no, Christmas Eve is coming again. All the fuss and preparation can feel exhausting. But the closer the day gets, the more I begin to feel the Christmas spirit. And somehow, I now feel a little the same way about Mother’s Day.

Mother’s Day is an opportunity to honor the unique bond we share with our mothers. And honestly, it’s better to be truly celebrated on this one day than not at all. So children, celebrate your mothers. Celebrate them as if there were no tomorrow.

They will definitely appreciate it… even if they may never admit it.

Six Reasons to Celebrate Mother’s Day:

  1. Unconditional Love

Mothers love unconditionally. Before becoming a mother, it is impossible to imagine how deep the love for a child can truly be. This love knows no limits and endures even through the hardest times. A mother’s thoughts and feelings revolve around the happiness and well-being of her child. When a child suffers, mothers often suffer even more. Mother’s Day reminds us to appreciate this extraordinary kind of love.

  1. Sacrifice and Lifelong Support

Many mothers sacrifice years of their time, energy, and often their own dreams for the well-being of their children. Mothers are usually the first to be there when comfort, advice, or support is needed. Most mothers would do anything for their children — in the worst case, even give their lives. Mother’s Day is a time to honor this selfless devotion.

  1. Life Lessons

Mothers teach us important lessons in life — from core values to practical skills. Mother’s Day is a time to remember these lessons and appreciate the wisdom our mothers pass on to us.

  1. Learning from Our Mothers’ Mistakes

Mothers are not perfect. Even when they want the very best for us, they make mistakes. And we can also be grateful for that, because through these mistakes we learn, grow, and become stronger ourselves.

  1. Celebrating the Many Forms of Motherhood

Mothers come in many different forms. Whether biological mothers, adoptive mothers, stepmothers, or grandmothers — Mother’s Day recognizes and celebrates the many different kinds of maternal relationships.

Mother’s Day is about much more than giving flowers. It is a time to express gratitude for motherhood in all its forms and to honor the love we receive through this unique and precious bond.
